Dembó

Dembó is a high-yielding variety of winter rapeseed of the new generation, developed through hybridization and selection of the best plants. It belongs to the medium-early maturing varieties with a vegetation period of 300-305 days and plant height ranging from 120 to 150 cm. The rapeseed forms pods up to 11 cm long, containing 22-25 seeds, with a potential yield reaching 60-100 centners per hectare. The seeds of this variety contain 44-46% oil with a low erucic acid content (0.01-0.05%) and 15 μmol/g glucosinolates, making them suitable for producing food-grade oil, biofuel, and high-quality meal for animal feed.

The Dembo variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging, shattering, drought, and diseases, as well as good winter hardiness, which is particularly important for Ukraine's climatic conditions. The plants can form 8-10 lateral branches, contributing to stable yield formation at a planting density of 60-70 plants per square meter. The optimal sowing period is the second to third decade of August with a seeding rate of 4-5 kg/ha. To improve winter hardiness and prevent excessive growth at early sowing dates, fungicide-retardants are recommended, which slow cell growth and promote the formation of shortened and thickened stems, improving nutrient distribution and increasing plant resilience.

Dembó is successfully cultivated in various regions, including steppes, forest-steppes, and prairies. Thanks to its economic and biological characteristics, this variety occupies an important place among oilseed crops, ensuring high productivity and product quality. Its universal application covers food-grade oil production, biofuel processing, and animal feed base, making it strategically significant for the agricultural sector.
