Innovation in Breeding: «Raudis» Spring Rapeseed

Developed by the NUBiP of Ukraine, the «Raudis» variety represents the culmination of extensive breeding research aimed at adapting spring rapeseed to the challenging climatic conditions of the region. As farmers seek to balance high yields with environmental resilience, «Raudis» has emerged as a reliable and technologically advanced choice.

This simple linear variety boasts high productivity, with a yield potential ranging from 60 to 70 quintals per hectare, provided that the optimal plant density of 600,000 to 1.1 million plants per hectare is maintained. The plant height of 150-160 cm makes it well-suited for efficient mechanical harvesting.

Technological Advantages and Crop Protection

A key feature of «Raudis» is its compatibility with the Clearfield herbicide system. This allows for the use of specialized herbicides to combat a wide spectrum of weeds without causing phytotoxicity to the crop. This systemic resistance significantly reduces production risks and simplifies field maintenance.

The NUBiP selection process has provided the variety with a robust immune system. It demonstrates high resistance to several critical diseases:

• Alternaria, Sclerotinia, and Phoma;
• Root rot and Blackleg;
• Downy mildew (Peronospora) and Bacteriosis.

These features are vital for minimizing yield losses, especially during seasons with high humidity levels that typically promote fungal development.

Economic Viability

«Raudis» features an impressive oil content of 45-50%. High oil percentage combined with a yield potential of up to 7 tons per hectare makes this hybrid highly attractive for operations focused on export and intensive processing. It serves as a prime example of NUBiP's scientific expertise meeting the practical needs of modern agriculture, offering a balanced solution for high-performance farming.
