Description
The raspberry variety Iskra is a powerful, tall bush with a semi-spreading form. The two-year-old canes are brown, with a purple hue on the sun-exposed side in the latter half of summer. Thorns on the canes are rare, short, and straight, more densely located at the base and differ in softness. Leaves are of medium size, dark green, wrinkled, and corrugated, giving the plant a healthy and attractive appearance.
Iskra berries are large, round, red in color with a shiny surface. Fruit mass varies from 1.8 to 4.0 grams, the shape is predominantly obtuse-conical or round. The pulp is acidic-sweet with a good taste and a weak aroma, making the berries dessert-like and pleasant to eat fresh. Sugar content is about 5.7%, acidity is 1.6%, and vitamin C reaches 29.6 mg per 100 grams. The berries have good transportability and firm drupelet adhesion.
The Iskra variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 10 tons per hectare, and high winter hardiness, which allows for successful cultivation in the Volga-Vyatka region. Bushes have high cane productivity and are relatively resistant to sub-freezing. Additionally, the variety shows weak infection with purple blotch and spider mites, which reduces the need for intensive plant protection and promotes stable high-quality harvest.
