AZOS 5

Rootstock AZOS-5 is a grape variety intended for breeding and cultivation in the Black Sea region. The leaf is of medium size, round-shaped, five-lobed, and has medium dissection. The upper surface of the leaf is slightly bumpy, wavy, and funnel-shaped, while the main veins remain green on both sides. The upper leaf cuttings are open, vaulted with an open base; lower cuttings are similar in shape but less pronounced. The leaf edges have acute triangular teeth, and the pubescence on the underside is weakly bristly along the veins.

The vine is brown and vigorous, with early and full shoot ripening. Internode length is 14–15 cm, ensuring good planting density. The rootstock is highly resistant to phylloxera and chlorosis, as well as having a short vegetative period, making it convenient for rapid sapling production.

Shoot yield from one hectare reaches 170–190 thousand pieces, and the rootstock grafts well with many European grape varieties. The petiole notch is closed, with an oval opening and pointed edges; petiole length equals the leaf midrib. These characteristics make AZOS-5 a valuable material for producing first-class saplings under Black Sea region conditions.
