VA 29

The VA‑29 rootstock is a medium-height pear rootstock from a mother orchard, specifically developed for grafting and budding pear trees. Its physical parameters include a thickness of 7–12 mm and a length from 60 to 90 cm, which ensures an optimal balance between resistance to mechanical damage and ease of handling during planting.

One of the key advantages of VA‑29 is the high winter hardiness of the root system: the rootstock withstands temperatures down to ‑27 °C without snow, maintaining integrity and viability even in harsh climatic conditions. This makes it particularly valuable for regions with cold winters.

Fruits grown on VA‑29 differ in improved quality: they color better and can be 30–150 % heavier in mass compared to similar varieties grafted on wildlings. The rootstock is also suitable for dwarf pear varieties, such as Karola, Concord, Yuta, and David, ensuring stable growth and productivity.

Rootstock packets are sold in bulk quantities – from 50 to 100 pieces, which is convenient for commercial horticulturists and farmers planning mass grafting. Such a format allows for quickly and economically supplying plantings with the necessary material.
