GLORIA DEY

The Gloria Dei rose is one of the most famous and popular varieties in the world, created in 1945 by the breeder Meilland. This variety was named after the originator's mother and has since gained recognition thanks to its large, double blooms with a delicate pink-peach-cream coloration. The blooms reach a diameter of up to 15-17 cm, possess an elegant shape with a pointed center, and consist of 40-45 petals. The bloom color changes depending on the time of year and growing conditions, starting with a golden-yellow color with a pink rim and gradually transitioning to a creamy-pink hue. The rose emits a pleasant fruity aroma of medium intensity, which also varies depending on external factors.

Gloria Dei bushes are vigorous, reaching a height of up to 140-150 cm and a width of about 80-120 cm. The leaves are large, leathery, dark green in color with a glossy surface, which gives the plant ornamentation throughout the season. Blooming is abundant and repeat, continuing from June until the frost, which makes this variety an excellent choice for flower beds, borders, and single plantings. The rose is well suited for cutting, thanks to its large and striking blooms that will decorate any bouquet.

Gloria Dei is distinguished by high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and black spot, and also possesses increased frost hardiness. For successful overwintering, covering is recommended, especially for young plants: lower shoots are covered with soil, and the root zone is mulched. The rose prefers sunny areas with fertile, well-drained soil with neutral acidity. Due to its beauty, durability, and unpretentiousness, the variety is widely used in landscape design, including for living hedges and compositions with other flowers, such as lavender, Veronica, and petunia.
