Spedophia

Spedophia rose is a shrub about 1.2 meters tall with dark green leaves and large bright red flowers up to 12 cm in diameter. The flowers have a velvety texture, high-centered form, fully double shape, and a mild fragrance. It blooms repeatedly during summer and autumn, making it an attractive choice for long-lasting decorative effect in the garden.

For successful cultivation, Spedophia should be planted in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in a sunny location. It is important to mulch the plant with well-rotted organic material at the end of winter or beginning of spring, and apply universal rose or shrub fertilizers in early spring and again in early summer to ensure abundant flowering. The rose may be susceptible to attacks by various pests such as aphids, leaf cicadas, spider mites, scale insects, caterpillars, and various types of sawflies, as well as damage from deer and rabbits.

Spedophia is distinguished by its high decorative value and good hardiness, confirmed by data obtained under cultivation conditions in the Netherlands. The flowers of this rose are extra-large (XL), and cut flowers retain freshness in a vase for 14-16 days when stem length is 60-80 cm. The rose is registered under a trademark and is an exclusive variety, emphasizing its uniqueness and quality. Despite trials related to diseases and pests, the variety demonstrates resistance and is suitable for cultivation in gardens with proper care.
