Description

Siver'skoe — this is winter rye, registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2007. The plant is diploid, of medium height with a semi-erect bush. The coleoptile is short, the flag leaf has a short sheath, and the leaf blade is short with moderate waxy coating. The stem is characterized by a very short distance between the upper node and the ear, as well as strong hairs beneath the ear. The ear is of medium length and density, positioned horizontally and covered with a weak bluish bloom. The grain is of medium length with a light aleurone layer color. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness (8.5–8.9 points) and resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, gray mold, root rots, fusarium, and septoria. It is also resistant to lodging, shattering, and drought, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions. The plant has a well-developed root system and low-growing structure, which contributes to its resilience and productivity. The average yield of the variety is 50.2 c/ha in the Steppe zone, 55.2 c/ha in the Forest-Steppe, and 54.4 c/ha in the Polesie, with a guaranteed addition of 5.6–7.6 c/ha. The vegetation period lasts about 285 days, making the variety early maturing. The grain is high-quality, with protein content of 10.3–12%, falling number of 140–265 seconds, and 1000-grain weight of 38–39 g. The bread volume from 100 g of flour reaches 380–390 ml, and the overall baking quality score is 4.0 points. Recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Polesie zones of Ukraine.
