The plant reaches a height of 140-152 cm, and the short pod length facilitates harvest. Leaves are light green, entire, medium-sized, and the flower has lemon-yellow petal color.
Seed yield is about 23 c/ha, with fat content in seeds reaching 41.9%. Green mass is high – up to 388 c/ha, making the variety suitable for fodder use. The vegetative period lasts from 292 to 321 days, and flowering time is early, allowing for quick first seed harvest.
The variety is characterized by good resistance to pests and diseases: powdery mildew affects it very weakly, and alternaria and fusarium show weak influence. Winter hardiness is rated at 3.8 points, lodging resistance – 4.6 points, shattering resistance – 3.4 points. Thanks to these characteristics, 'Northern Express' is suitable for a wide range of climatic zones and ensures stable seed and fodder mass yields.
