Description
The "Valentin" variety – a high-yielding sea buckthorn species, distinguished by good productivity and disease resistance. The fruits are medium-sized (about 0.8 g), have an orange color, a sour-sweet taste, and contain 5.8% sugar, 1.5% acid, 43.2 mg/100 g of vitamin C, 14.3 mg/100 g of carotene, and 5.5% oil. These indicators make the berries suitable for producing jams, compotes, and confectionery products.
The bearing shoots of the variety are of medium height and growth with straight stems of green-brown color and whitish pubescence. The leaves are lanceolate, light-green, slightly concave, which promotes good photosynthesis and resistance to adverse conditions.
The variety's yield reaches 42.3 tons/hectare under optimal growing conditions. "Valentin" demonstrates winter hardiness, drought resistance, and moderate heat tolerance, as well as weak infestation by sea buckthorn fly. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable both for commercial production and for home use.
