Description
Sorghum 366X73 is a mid-late maturing hybrid of grain sorghum, designed for high yields of both grain and silage. This hybrid is characterized by white grain color and absence of tannin, which enhances its feed value. The vegetation period ranges from 130 to 140 days, and the average plant height varies between 115-128 cm. Plants exhibit good initial growth energy, promoting rapid development and successful adaptation to various climatic conditions, including arid regions. The tillering coefficient is within the range of 2-3, ensuring optimal yield formation.
The hybrid demonstrates high resistance to lodging and stress factors, confirmed by stability ratings of 6 and 8 respectively. It also shows disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation across all of Ukraine and the North Caucasus region. The panicle is symmetrical, long, and dense with a short peduncle, and the grain is round with a starchy endosperm, contributing to good product quality. The 1000-grain weight is approximately 32.1 g.
The potential yield of this hybrid reaches 120 c/ha for grain and 900 c/ha for silage, while actual yields under various conditions range from 32 to 38 c/ha. In the North Caucasus region, yield increases have been recorded at 12.8%, with maximum yields reaching 78.4 c/ha in Rostov Oblast. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, sorghum 366X73 is a versatile and efficient hybrid suitable for both grain and feed purposes.
