About product
Granat is a sorghum variety intended primarily for feed use. The period from germination to full grain maturity is 93-95 days, and to milk-waxy maturity is 72-75 days. Grain yield when grown for grain reaches 4.91-6.10 tons per hectare, and green mass yield when used for silage reaches 19.25-25.80 tons per hectare. Description
The plant reaches a height of 118-122 cm, the mass of 1000 seeds is 31.2 grams, and the mass of the ear with grain is 28.8 grams. Tannin and hydrogen cyanide glucoside content in grain and green mass is minimal and at trace levels. For optimal growth, wide-row sowing with a row spacing of 0.70 m and a seeding rate of 7-9 kg of seeds per hectare is recommended; at the same time, the variety can withstand thickening up to 250-350 thousand plants per hectare with a seeding rate of 18-20 kg of seeds at a row spacing of 0.30-0.45 m.
Sorghum Granat is distinguished by high drought resistance and the ability to grow on various soil types, including saline soils and low-moisture regions. This heat-loving crop easily adapts to climatic conditions and is an excellent alternative to corn. Sorghum grain contains a significant amount of starch (61-83%), protein (7.8-16.7%), and fat (1.7-6.5%), which makes it valuable for feeding cattle, poultry, and fish, as well as for the food industry.
In addition to feed use, sorghum grain and green mass are used in the production of flour, cereal, alcohol, molasses, and other products. Sorghum Granat is also used in brewing, for obtaining dyes and wax, while straw serves in farms. Thanks to its unique properties and high yield, this sorghum variety is a promising crop for growing in various agro-climatic zones.
