Description
KWS RASMUS — this is a mid-season hybrid of grain sorghum, included in the State Register of Selection Achievements for the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions. This variety is characterized by round, elliptical seeds with a semi-glassy endosperm structure and white coloration. Average grain yield varies by region: in the North Caucasus region, it reaches 33 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 92.8 centners per hectare, recorded at the Kirov State Agricultural Experimental Station of the Republic of North Ossetia in 2019. In the Lower Volga region, average yield is around 10.3 centners per hectare, and the variety is recommended for cultivation in the Saratov region.
The KWS RASMUS hybrid exhibits good resistance to lodging and drought tolerance, meeting standard requirements, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under variable climatic conditions. Additionally, in field conditions, the variety shows weak infection by bacterial spot, contributing to crop health and yield stability.
Since 2007, KWS has been engaged in sorghum breeding and multiplication, viewing this crop as a promising complement to corn due to its ability to efficiently utilize photosynthesis via the C4 pathway. The company’s specialists are ready to provide consultations on successful sorghum cultivation and care, enabling farmers to fully unlock the potential of the KWS RASMUS hybrid and ensure high crop productivity.
