Description
Grain sorghum variety ORLOVSKOE® is an early-maturing forage crop created by individual selection from the hybrid combination L-44 x Skorospeloe 65. Plants reach a height of 110-115 cm, featuring an upright symmetrical panicle of medium density, 25-28 cm in length. The grain is light brown, threshes well, and has a 1000-kernel weight of 19.1-25 grams. This variety does not form headrows and does not require additional drying after harvest, which facilitates the harvesting process.
ORLOVSKOE® boasts high resistance to lodging and a moderate level of drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in the Lower Volga region and the Republic of Kalmykia. The variety also demonstrates moderate resistance to bacterial leaf spot and powdery head smut, contributing to plant health and stable yields.
The primary application of the variety is forage use in animal husbandry. High nutrient content and good forage quality of the grain contribute to livestock productivity. Average grain yield in the region is about 20.4 centners per hectare, making ORLOVSKOE® an effective and economically viable choice for farmers engaged in feed production.
