Description
Sugar sorghum variety SEVER® is a high-yielding and early-maturing variety intended for sugar production and agricultural use. This variety is characterized by high sugar content in the stem, reaching 17-19%, making it a valuable raw material for the food industry and liquid sugar production. The plants are tall, reaching heights of 230-270 cm, with a dense and symmetrical panicle of medium length, which facilitates harvest collection and increased productivity.
The variety is characterized by light green leaf coloration and the absence or weak anthocyanin coloration of seedlings, which is a distinguishing feature. The grain is round, reddish-brown, with a starchy endosperm, with the mass of 1000 grains varying from 16.5 to 23.8 g. The leafiness of the plants is about 36.4%, which ensures good photosynthetic activity and contributes to high yield. The average dry matter yield in various regions reaches from 80.0 to 159.9 c/ha, which significantly exceeds the standard averages.
The SEVER® variety is recommended for use as green feed, silage, and ensilage, as well as for molasses and liquid sugar production. It has lodging resistance and moderate resistance to bacterial leaf spot and fusarium, which increases growing reliability in various climatic conditions. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and versatility of application, this variety is a profitable choice for farmers engaged in feed and sugar-containing product production.
