Description
Amethyst soybean variety is an early-maturing variety developed by the Krasnograd Experimental Station of the Institute of Grain Crops of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 1998. Plants reach a height of 50-70 cm, have a dense bush and purple flowers. This variety is distinguished by high cold resistance during germination and generative organ formation, ensuring its reliability under various climatic conditions.
Amethyst is recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. The average yield of this variety is 1.8 t/ha, reaching 2.6-3.0 t/ha under irrigation. Soybean is resistant to lodging, shattering, drought, as well as bacterial and viral diseases, making it a high-yielding and reliable crop. The 1000-seed mass varies from 160 to 180 g, facilitating mechanized harvest.
The seeds of the Amethyst variety have an oval shape, yellow color without pigmentation, slightly curved pods that do not crack during storage. Protein content in the seeds is 37-40%, and oil content is 19-21%, making this variety valuable for producing food and feed products. Due to its characteristics and resistance, Amethyst soybean is a profitable choice for agricultural production in suitable climatic zones.
