Zusha

The ZUSA soybean variety is a mid-early semi-determinate variety with a vegetative period of about 110 days. Plants of this variety have an average height of 67 to 115 cm, are upright, with trifoliate green leaves of oval-acuminate shape. The lower pods are located at a height of approximately 12.8 cm from the ground, and the pods themselves are slightly curved, brown in color with reddish pubescence. ZUSA seeds are of medium size, round-elongated, yellowish or greenish-yellow in color with a brown hilum. The variety is characterized by high yield and high-quality seed composition. The average yield in the Central Black Earth region is about 18.8 c/ha, while maximum indicators reached 37.5 c/ha. The weight of 1000 seeds varies within 153–159 g. Seeds contain a significant amount of protein — from 33.6% to 39%, and fat — about 24.4%, which makes this variety attractive for use in the food and feed industries. ZUSA was created by individual selection from a hybrid population obtained by crossing the Welch and L-21 varieties. The variety features synchronous ripening and is suitable for harvesting by direct combining, which facilitates agricultural operations. Developed and patented by the All-Russian Research Institute of Grain Legumes and Cereal Crops, which confirms its high quality and adaptability to the conditions of the Central Black Earth region.
