The ZONALSKAYA 6 variety is an early-maturing sudangrass (Sorghum xdrummondii), grown in the Ural region and included in the State Register. The plant height is 180–215 cm, with average bushiness. The stem is succulent, 8–10 mm thick; leaves are 48–52 cm long and 3–4 cm wide, also succulent. The panicle is pyramidal and spreading, 25–28 cm long. Spikelets are oval, scales are orange-red, and seeds are oval, straw-yellow, and membranous.
The feed qualities of ZONALSKAYA 6 exceed most grasses: green mass and hay have high digestible protein, sugar, and ash content. 100 kg of green mass provides 17 feed units, while 100 kg of hay provides 52 units. The grass is easily digested by cattle, sheep, and horses, and is suitable for silage, where its nutritional value is comparable to corn silage harvested at the milk-wax ripeness stage.
The average yield of absolutely dry matter in the region is 46.8 c/ha, which is 4.0 c higher than the average standard. The plant shows weak resistance to red bacterial leaf spot. The variety grows successfully in the Lower Volga, Ural, and West Siberian regions, where it has already proven its productivity and feed value.
