Description
RMS 501 is a high-yielding sugar beet hybrid (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.), developed within the breeding work of VNIIS. This single-seed triploid on a sterile Z-type base belongs to the medium-early group of sugar plants. The hybrid is characterized by increased root yield, which in various regions ranges from 496.7 to 542.5 centners per hectare, with maximum yield indicators reaching 774 centners per hectare, confirmed by experiments in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Sugar content in roots varies from 18.0% to 21.8%, ensuring high sugar collection - up to 114.6 centners per hectare.
RMS 501 is characterized by a technological root shape, which is easily extracted from the soil and has a low degree of contamination. Root immersion in the soil is about three quarters, which contributes to the ease of harvesting and reduced losses. The hybrid has high resistance to root rots, as well as moderate resistance to diseases such as cercosporosis, ramularia, and powdery mildew. In addition, RMS 501 demonstrates good drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in various agro-ecological zones.
This hybrid is recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatsk and Central-Black Earth regions, where it shows stable and high productivity indicators. RMS 501 is part of a series of hybrids developed to increase the competitiveness of sugar beet, combining high yield, raw material quality, and resistance to adverse conditions and diseases. Thanks to these characteristics, RMS 501 represents an effective solution for sugar producers seeking maximum return and crop quality.
