Description
Jagusia — first-generation sugar beet hybrid developed by the Polish company KHBC and included in the State Register for the Central Chernozem region. This single-stem diploid hybrid on a sterile N-type base has a medium maturity period and is intended for cultivation in regions numbered 5, 7, and 9, particularly recommended for Kursk Oblast. The root mass is approximately 551 grams, and the average yield of roots in the region reaches 481.7 centners per hectare with a sugar content of 19%, ensuring a sugar harvest of 91.3 centners per hectare.
The plant is characterized by high sugar content (up to 17.9–19%) and high technological sugar yield (approximately 13.3 tons per hectare), making it economically viable for production. The roots have high content with low nitrogen, which reduces sugar loss in molasses and increases production efficiency. A small number of fine roots facilitate harvest, while high drought resistance and rapid spring growth contribute to stable yields even under adverse conditions.
Jagusia exhibits high resistance to diseases and stress factors: resistance to rhizomania and nematode is rated 8, providing protection against common pests and diseases. During field trials, average infection by powdery mildew, weak infection by root rot and root maggots, and very weak infection by cercosporosis were observed. These characteristics make the hybrid a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality sugar beet yields.
