The «Bazik» sunflower hybrid, developed by the Ooo Aktiv Agro selection center (originators Vitaly Grigoryan and Marianna Sharygina), is a mid-early hybrid with a vegetation period of 100–110 days. Its technical value lies in the balance between high oil content (45–55%) and robust phytosanitary resistance. For an agronomist, this translates to reduced fungicide application costs and predictable harvesting schedules.

Biological Defense Against Pathogens

The hybrid's resistance to a complex of diseases is a key engineering feat of the «Bazik» selection. The plant's genetic architecture is designed to block the development of critical sunflower threats:

• Root and Stem Rots: High resistance to white and gray rot maintains stem integrity until harvest, preventing lodging.
• Phomopsis and Rust: Genetic defense mechanisms arrest the spread of these pathogens, which typically reduce the photosynthetic leaf surface area.
• Downy Mildew (Peronospora): Selective focus on suppressing this fungal disease is particularly relevant in regions with high humidity during early growth stages.

Plant Structure and Productivity

The plant reaches a height of 160–170 cm. A crucial indicator is the flattened, large-sized head, which ensures uniform seed maturation. Seed shapes range from narrow-ovate to spherical-elongated. The dense packaging of seeds within the large head minimizes mechanical harvesting losses, while the high oil yield makes «Bazik» a cost-effective tool for crop rotations focused on high-margin processing.
