Description
Sunflower Springboks — this is a plastic mid-early hybrid developed by the French producer Laboulet, intended for conventional cultivation methods. It has a vegetation period of 107 to 112 days and belongs to the linoleic type with seed oil content ranging from 48–50%. Plant height reaches approximately 155 cm, and the hybrid is characterized by high uniformity and good initial growth rates. Flowering begins around day 70 after sowing.
The Springboks hybrid has a high genetic yield potential, reaching up to 5.2 tons per hectare. It is resistant to lodging and shattering, which helps preserve yield under adverse weather conditions. Its strong root system allows efficient use of soil moisture from depths of 1.5 to 2.5 meters, ensuring good drought and heat resistance. The recommended plant density at harvest is 53–58 thousand plants per hectare in well-watered zones and 48–52 thousand in poorly watered zones.
Springboks exhibits high resistance to major diseases and pests. It is resistant to race A-F of downy mildew, and also shows good resistance to sclerotinia, fusarium, phomopsis, white and gray rot. Additionally, the hybrid demonstrates high resilience to stress factors such as cold and drought, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. Due to these characteristics, Springboks is a high-yielding, low-maintenance sunflower hybrid suitable for conventional cultivation methods.
