Description
Thyme "Romanovsky" – a perennial vegetable plant grown in garden and vegetable plots and private holdings. It belongs to the Thymus L. varieties developed by FGBNU "Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing". The variety was approved for commercial use in 2004, and its cultivation is permitted in all regions of the country.
"Romanovsky" is characterized by compact growth: stem height is 20–25 cm, leaves are small, dark green, and hard with smooth edges. Flowers are small, white-magenta, arranged in head-shaped inflorescences. The period from regrowth to the first green cutting is only 32–34 days, making it convenient for the rapid production of fresh seasoning.
The variety is widely used as a culinary seasoning: leaves and young shoots are added to vegetable, meat, and fish dishes. Additionally, it can be used in brewing and as a decorative plant due to its pleasant aroma. The yield of green mass reaches 0.3–0.4 kg/m², and the mass of one plant ranges from 100 to 200 g.
