Description
LOTAS is a spring variety of triticale, representing an interspecific hybrid of wheat and rye that combines the best qualities of both cereals. This variety is characterized by high frost resistance, stress tolerance, and environmental plasticity, allowing it to grow successfully and provide stable yields even on depleted soils. The vegetation period ranges from 91 to 110 days, corresponding to an average maturity time. Plant height varies from 88 to 126 cm, while the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 40.7 to 51.5 g. The ear is white, medium to long length, medium to dense density, fully awned, with short to medium-length awns. The plant habit of the LOTAS variety is intermediate, with strong to very strong glabrousness of the stem neck and medium to strong waxy bloom on the sheath of the flag leaf. The grain is light yellow, medium size, and elongated shape. The variety exhibits high resistance to lodging, which helps preserve the crop and facilitates harvesting. Disease resistance is also high: the variety is weakly affected by brown rust and moderately resistant to septoria, ensuring reliable cultivation under various conditions. LOTAS is primarily used as a grain-forage crop and can effectively replace wheat and corn in compound feeds. This allows for saving feed resources and increasing the productivity of agricultural animals. Thanks to high yield, which averages 41.1 ц/ha and exceeds the standard by 5.1 ц/ha, the LOTAS variety is a profitable choice for farmers focused on grain forage with good agronomic characteristics and resistance to adverse factors.
