Description
The spring triticale variety ZAOZERIE is a promising grain crop intended for use both in food and feed. It was created through joint breeding work by Russian and Belarusian scientists and included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements for the Volga-Vyatsk, Ural, East-Siberian, and Far East regions of Russia. ZAOZERIE is a medium-early maturing variety, ripening 1-2 days earlier than the standard Carmen variety, and is characterized by a semi-erect intermediate bush type with high resistance to lodging, which is confirmed by the absence of lodging during multi-year trials. The plant is of medium height with a tall stem, which is 4.8% higher than the standard and 25-34% higher than intensive-type varieties. The ear is white, medium length, dense, and fully awned, with awns of medium length. The average mass of 1000 grains is 39.7 grams. The waxy coating on the sheath of the flag leaf varies from medium to strong, and the density of stem neck pubescence is strong. The variety demonstrates high resistance to major fungal diseases, such as helminthosporiosis, loose smut, brown rust, and powdery mildew, which contributes to stable yields in various climatic conditions. ZAOZERIE is distinguished by high productivity and adaptability to different soil and climatic conditions. The average grain yield during the testing period was 48.8 c/ha, and in favorable years reached up to 74.8 c/ha. Under stress conditions, the yield exceeds the indicators of intensive-type varieties, making it particularly valuable for regions with a variable climate. The variety is recommended for cultivation on all soil types and in various agricultural technologies - from low-cost to medium-intensive. High-quality fodder grain and versatility of application - for green mass, monoculture, and grain fodder - make ZAOZERIE a profitable choice for feed production.
