Description
The Bastion vegetable pea is a late-maturing, high-yielding variety of Dutch selection by the company Nunhems Zaden. The plant forms tall, leafy stems up to 60-65 cm in height, bearing slightly curved dark green pods 8-10 cm long. Each pod contains uniformly small peas that easily detach and are distinguished by high nutritional value and excellent taste qualities. The vegetation period of the variety is 70-72 days, allowing its use for late sowing in open ground.
The Bastion variety is resistant to a wide range of diseases, including Fusarium oxysporum race 1, as well as viral infections (PEMV, BYMV, Ep, F). Thanks to these qualities and stable yield, peas are suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions and demonstrate good adaptability to adverse factors. The pea yield is approximately 45-46% of the pod weight, making the variety profitable for commercial production.
Bastion peas are widely used fresh, and also excellently suitable for freezing, canning, and storage, retaining their attractive appearance and taste qualities for a long time. The recommended planting density is 35-50 thousand plants per hectare, ensuring optimal plant development and maximum crop productivity.
