EGORKA — a mid-season vegetable pea (Pisum sativum L.) intended for canning, fresh use, and freezing. The period from full germination to the beginning of technical maturity is 50-69 days, which is at the level of or slightly later than the standard Sovinter variety. The variety is synchronous-maturing, suitable for mechanized harvesting, which facilitates the harvest collection process.
The plant is characterized by a medium-length stem and typical type leaves with large green leaflets. Stipules of medium size are covered with a waxy coating and have medium-density mottling. Flowers are white and medium-sized. Pods are weakly curved, long and narrow with an acute apex, green in technical maturity with a parchment layer. The height of attachment of lower pods is about 34.7 cm. The yield of green peas from pods reaches 40.3%, and seeds are wrinkled, small with green cotyledons.
The yield of the EGORKA variety is 34.2 centners per hectare, which corresponds to the average standard. The taste qualities of fresh peas are evaluated as good and excellent. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including Northern, Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatsky, Central-Black-Earth, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, Ural, Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
