Description
Vegetable pea variety KRASAVCHIK is a medium-maturing shelling variety with synchronous ripening. Plants have stems of short or medium length, on which paired and triple multi-seeded pods up to 10 cm long are formed. At technical maturity, the pods are dark green, slightly curved, and medium width, while the peas differ in good and excellent taste qualities. The height of attachment of lower pods varies from 31 to 55 cm, with 2-3 pods formed per node. Seeds are green, the mass of 1000 pieces is about 190 g. Amylose in starch reaches 78%, which affects the texture and taste properties of the product.
Variety KRASAVCHIK is intended for canning and freezing, which makes it universal for various storage and usage methods. The vegetative period from germination to harvesting is 71-73 days, which corresponds to a medium-late maturity period. The yield of green peas reaches 9-10 tons per hectare, indicating the high productivity of the variety.
For successful cultivation, it is recommended to sow peas at the end of April when the soil still contains a sufficient amount of moisture. Before sowing, seeds are soaked for 10-12 hours, after which they are sown to a depth of 2-3 cm with row spacing of 20-30 cm and a rate of up to 100 seeds per square meter. The plant develops better on fertile, calcium-rich loamy and medium-loamy soils with neutral or slightly acidic reaction and good aeration. Care includes loosening of inter-row spaces, watering, and feeding. To extend the harvesting period, sowings are conducted in several stages on well-lit areas.
