VORONEZH GREEN

Voronezh Green is an early-maturing variety of vegetable pea with a maturity period ranging from 42 to 54 days. The plant is semi-dwarf, growing 70 to 90 cm tall, with dark green stems covered in a waxy coating and lacking hairs. The pods are shelling-type, pointed at the tip, weakly curved, green in color, and contain 8 to 10 seeds. The peas are emerald green, characterized by high protein content and a tender sweet taste, making them attractive for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and freezing. The variety is noted for uniform fruit ripening and high yield, reaching 0.8-1.2 kg per square meter. Plants require support, so trellises are recommended when growing. Sowing seeds is done in open ground in early spring on sunny plots, at a depth of 3-6 cm depending on soil type: 3-4 cm on heavy soils and 4-6 cm on light soils. The optimal planting scheme is 15x30 or 15x45 cm. Seeds germinate at temperatures from 2 to 5°C, and seedlings can withstand brief frosts down to -6°C. Voronezh Green prefers fertile, loamy, and medium loam soils with neutral or slightly acidic pH. Good aeration and sufficient moisture throughout the growing season are important for successful cultivation. To improve crop quality, fertilization with micro-fertilizers containing boron and molybdenum is recommended. This variety is cold-hardy and moisture-loving, well-suited for cultivation in various climatic conditions, and serves as an excellent predecessor for most crops, except legumes.
