Description
Walnut «Aurora» – one of the most in-demand varieties due to high yield and excellent fruit taste qualities. The tree reaches a height of up to 6–8 meters, has a dense dark-green crown, large smooth leaves, giving it a decorative appearance. Flowering occurs in late spring – late April/early May, when small flowers appear on the tree, gathered in catkins.
«Aurora» fruits ripen in September–October, their mass is 10–14 grams. The nuts are large and oval in shape with a thin but strong shell, easily cracked upon opening. The kernels have a sweet rich taste, high oil content (about 68%), and kernel yield is about 55%. The tree begins fruiting in the 4th–5th year after planting, and with each subsequent year, the intensity of yield increases. In mature age, the tree can yield from 25 to 70 kilograms of dry nuts.
The variety is distinguished by its resistance to cold and diseases, as well as good frost hardiness. Due to high transportability and long storage period, «Aurora» nuts are in demand among both amateur gardeners and farmers who use them for commercial purposes. This makes the tree a versatile choice for any garden or orchard where yield, fruit quality, and ease of care are valued.
