Description
The 'Burlyuk' tree species – a walnut tree reaching 7–8 m in height with a dense, rounded-drooping crown and skeleton branches branching off the trunk at an angle of 45–50°. By the age of 20, the tree reaches a height of about 7–8 m. The fruits are of medium size – egg-shaped nuts weighing 11–12 g, with a thin and tough shell. The kernel yield is approximately 54%, and the fat content in the kernel is 65%. Protein is present at about 27.8%.
The 'Burlyuk' variety is characterized by a medium maturity period and moderate yield: by the 17th year, the yield is approximately 3.1 t/ha, and by the 19th year it can reach 41 t/ha. The nuts have a high tasting score (4.8 points), making them universal for both food production and industrial use.
'Burlyuk' prefers moderate soil moisture and light-loving conditions, but it also tolerates shade well. It is recommended to plant in garden soils where the tree will be stable for wintering. Thanks to its beautiful crown and aromatic fruits, this variety is valued as an ornamental-food object.
