Description
The hazelnut variety Kodrene is a vigorous tree with a strong, massive crown formed by sturdy branches with a branching angle of 65-75 degrees. The tree height reaches 7-8 meters. This variety is characterized by late bud break, occurring 4-5 days later compared to other medium-ripening varieties. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to select fertile, deep, and light soils, which promote stable growth and high yield.
The fruits of the Kodrene variety are large, weighing from 13 to 15 grams, round or egg-shaped, with a thin but dense light-brown shell of about 1.4 mm thickness. The shell easily splits, and the kernel, yellow-brown or white in color, fills the interior well and constitutes more than 50% of the fruit's mass. The kernel has a slightly sweet taste and high oil content — around 69.5%. The nuts are uniform and high-quality, making them attractive to consumers.
The Kodrene variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and frost resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -35°C without significant damage. It is resistant to diseases such as marsoniosis and anthracnose, as well as to pests. Fruit production begins 3-4 years after planting and is characterized by abundance and regularity, with yields of about 3.5-4 tons per hectare. Due to these qualities, the Kodrene variety is suitable for cultivation in extreme climatic conditions, ensuring stable and high yields.
