Acaropsellina docta is a mite species belonging to the family Cheyletidae within the order Trombidiformes. While many family members act as predators, this species is frequently encountered in grain storage facilities, where it thrives in environments rich in organic dust, seed debris, and other agricultural byproducts associated with crop storage.

The primary hosts for this mite include stored grains, cereal products, and accumulated plant residues within farm infrastructure. Its ability to colonize these environments makes it a persistent issue in agricultural logistics, particularly where humidity and temperature management standards are not fully met during the storage period.

The biological cycle of this mite involves an egg stage, followed by larval, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages. The development speed is highly dependent on ambient environmental conditions; higher temperatures combined with high humidity significantly accelerate the population growth rate, allowing the pest to spread rapidly across stored grain stocks.

The damage caused by Acaropsellina docta is largely related to the degradation of grain quality. By feeding and clustering within grain heaps, they contaminate the product with waste matter, which degrades commercial value and often facilitates the colonization of grains by harmful fungi and bacteria. High infestations significantly reduce the germination rate of seeds, posing a risk to seed stock viability.
