While the family is generally known for its predatory habits towards other mites and small insects, Chelacaropsis moorei is frequently identified in the context of stored-product entomology, where it thrives in granaries and warehouse environments.

This pest primarily infests stored grain products, including wheat, barley, pulses, and flour. It thrives in facilities where agricultural commodities are stored for extended periods, especially when environmental conditions deviate from optimal dry storage standards. Its presence often goes unnoticed until significant populations have developed within the grain bulk.

Moreover, their activity is linked to the spread of fungal spores, which accelerates grain spoilage and the production of mycotoxins, making the stored product unsafe for consumption or animal feed.
