The larvae exhibit a high degree of host specificity, feeding exclusively on the internal tissues of the leaves, which characterizes them as internal feeders or "miners," causing structural and physiological disruptions to the foliage.

The biological cycle of this pest involves complete metamorphosis, consisting of the egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. The female adult lays eggs on the leaf surface, and upon hatching, the larva bores directly into the leaf tissue.
