Ambrosia gall mite

Aceria parthenii is a microscopic mite belonging to the family Eriophyidae within the order Trombidiformes. This species is recognized as a highly host-specific phytophagous mite that primarily targets members of the Ambrosia genus. Because of its specific feeding habits, it is extensively studied as a biological control agent for invasive ragweed populations.

The primary host plant is the common ragweed, Ambrosia artemisiifolia. The mites colonize the plant's terminal buds, flower heads, and leaf axils.
