Systematic position: The Linden leaf roller (Acleris issikii) belongs to the order Lepidoptera, family Tortricidae. This moth is a specialized pest primarily affecting trees of the genus Tilia (Linden). Due to its high reproductive capacity, it has become a significant concern for urban forestry and landscape maintenance in temperate regions.

Host plants: The primary host plants for this pest are species of the linden tree. It is commonly found in urban environments, including city parks, avenues, and gardens. The specialization of this species means that it can rapidly colonize large stands of lindens if left unmanaged.

Biology and life cycle: Acleris issikii undergoes a complete metamorphosis including egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. The adult moths hibernate in sheltered areas, such as bark crevices or leaf litter, emerging in spring to mate and lay eggs on the leaves. Depending on the weather conditions, the insect can complete two or three generations per year.

Nature of damage: Larvae are the primary cause of damage. They feed on the leaf tissues and use silk to roll or web the leaves together into distinctive shelters. Severe infestations can cause massive defoliation, which hampers the tree's photosynthetic capacity, weakens its vigor, and may lead to premature leaf drop or canopy decline.
