Aculops berochensis is a species of microscopic mite belonging to the Eriophyidae family within the order Trombidiformes. This pest is a specialized inhabitant of birch trees, where it interacts with the plant tissue to extract nutrients, often causing significant visual and physiological changes to the host.

The primary hosts for this mite are various species of birch. It predominantly colonizes young, developing leaves and succulent shoots. Due to its minute size, the presence of the mite often goes unnoticed until the host plant exhibits clear symptoms of infestation, such as gall formation or stunted foliage growth.

The life cycle of Aculops berochensis is intricately linked to the host's phenology. Fertilized females overwinter in protected areas, such as beneath bud scales or within deep fissures in the tree bark. As spring temperatures rise and buds begin to burst, the mites emerge to feed and initiate their reproductive cycle, resulting in multiple generations throughout the growing season.

The damage caused by this pest is primarily characterized by the formation of galls or abnormal tissue proliferation on the leaf blades.
