Aeolesthes salomeae is a species of longhorn beetle (family Cerambycidae) belonging to the order Coleoptera. This species is recognized as a specialized pest of woody plants, capable of causing significant damage to forest ecosystems and individual ornamental or commercial tree stands within its natural range.

This pest predominantly infests various broad-leaved tree species. Both wild-growing populations and valuable forest crops are at risk. The larvae are wood-borers that lead a cryptic lifestyle, excavating galleries deep within the sapwood and heartwood of trunks and thick branches, which makes early detection of the infestation extremely difficult.

The biology of Aeolesthes salomeae is characteristic of wood-feeding insects. Its life cycle involves complete metamorphosis, consisting of egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. Females typically lay eggs in bark crevices or specialized oviposition sites. Once hatched, the larvae penetrate beneath the bark and continue into the wood, where they feed for several months or even years, depending on environmental temperature and host tree condition.

The primary economic damage is caused by the physical disruption of the tree's vascular system. The extensive gallery networks cut through xylem vessels, hindering the transport of water and nutrients. This structural damage leads to crown dieback, reduced tree vigor, and eventual mortality. Furthermore, infested trees often become susceptible to secondary pathogens and pests.
