While members of the genus Anagrus are frequently studied as egg parasitoids, this specific species is recognized for its detrimental impact on plant tissues during its reproductive cycle, classifying it as a distinct agricultural pest that requires management in various crop systems.

The pest primarily targets cereal crops and various forage grasses. Damage occurs when the female uses her ovipositor to insert eggs into the plant's epidermis.
