Antaeotricha is a genus of moths belonging to the family Depressariidae. These insects are significant pests, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Historically associated with various families within Lepidoptera, they are now recognized as a distinct and diverse group that poses a threat to numerous cultivated plants in Central and South America.

The host range of Antaeotricha is extensive, focusing primarily on tropical fruit-bearing trees. Important agricultural crops such as avocado (Persea americana) and mango (Mangifera indica) are frequently attacked. Furthermore, various native and ornamental trees are also subject to infestation, making these moths a concern for both commercial orchards and local biodiversity.

The life cycle of Antaeotricha follows a complete metamorphosis involving egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. The larval stage is the most destructive. Larvae are known to construct specialized webbing or shelters on the leaves and stems of host plants. This protective behavior allows them to feed on foliage while remaining shielded from natural predators and environmental stressors.
