Loxotoma

Loxotoma is a genus of moths belonging to the family Depressariidae, within the order Lepidoptera. While these insects are not always primary pests in every agricultural zone, certain species within the genus are known to cause damage to vegetation, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions where their populations can thrive year-round.

The host range of Loxotoma often includes various broad-leaved plants and woody species. The larvae are the primary damaging stage, feeding on the foliage and occasionally attacking tender shoots. This herbivory can be particularly destructive to younger plants, which are less capable of recovering from significant leaf area loss.
