Description

Systematic position: The Japanese oak silkmoth (Antheraea yamamai) belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Saturniidae. Originally native to East Asia, this large moth has become a significant forest pest in various regions, recognized for its dramatic size and its impact on broad-leaved forest health.

Host plants: The primary host plants are species within the genus Quercus (oaks).
