The primary hosts of this pest are citrus trees, where it targets leaves, branches, and fruits. The insect settles on the surface of the plant, inserting its mouthparts into the phloem to feed on sap. This continuous feeding pattern disrupts the plant's nutrient distribution, leading to a general decline in the tree's health and vitality over time.
The life cycle of Aonidiella robusta involves several developmental stages, starting from eggs that hatch into mobile nymphs known as crawlers. These crawlers are the primary mechanism of dispersal within and between trees, often carried by wind or birds. Once a suitable site is found, the nymph settles and forms a protective covering, transitioning into an immobile stage.

Maintaining tree health through proper pruning, balanced fertilization, and avoiding moisture stress is essential to improve the plant's natural resistance.
