Description
The Apriona germari, commonly known as the mulberry longhorn beetle, is a significant member of the Cerambycidae family within the order Coleoptera. It is widely recognized as a destructive wood-boring pest that poses a serious threat to various deciduous tree species.
The host range of this insect includes a variety of trees, most notably mulberry, apple, pear, poplar, willow, and elm. The beetle exhibits polyphagous behavior, meaning it can infest different plant genera, making it a difficult pest to control in regions where these trees are commonly cultivated.
The life cycle of the beetle is extensive, often spanning one to two years depending on the environmental temperature. Female beetles lay eggs under the bark of branches or trunks.
