The white-shield moth (scientific name Argyroploce leucaspis) is a destructive insect belonging to the family Tortricidae, order Lepidoptera. This species is recognized as a significant pest in orchards, where it causes noticeable damage to the development of various tree crops.

The insect primarily targets pome and stone fruit trees. During its larval stage, it focuses on feeding on the buds, foliage, and developing fruits, which can drastically impede the growth of the tree and lead to reduced harvests if the infestation is not managed correctly.

The life cycle of the moth follows a pattern of complete metamorphosis. It typically overwinters as a larva, hidden securely within bark crevices or other protected microhabitats on the tree trunk. As temperatures rise in early spring, the larvae emerge to feed on the emerging vegetative buds.
