Description
The Orange tortrix (lat. Argyrotaenia franciscana) is a destructive pest belonging to the Tortricidae family within the order Lepidoptera. This moth species is recognized as a significant threat to various agricultural and horticultural crops, particularly in regions where fruit production is a major industry.
This pest is highly polyphagous, attacking a wide range of host plants including pome fruits (apples, pears), stone fruits, berries such as grapes and blueberries, and various ornamental plants. In nursery settings, the larvae often feed on developing terminal shoots and buds, causing malformation and stunting growth in young trees.
