The host range of this pest primarily includes fruit-bearing trees, with a particular affinity for citrus species and several other hardwood varieties. In infested regions, the presence of these beetles can lead to substantial economic losses, as they target the structural integrity of the host, weakening the trees and making them more susceptible to diseases and environmental stress.

The life cycle of the insect consists of four distinct stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The females typically deposit their eggs into the bark or crevasses of the trunk. Once hatched, the larvae bore into the sapwood and heartwood, creating extensive galleries. This feeding phase can last for one to multiple years, depending on the specific environmental conditions and host species.
