The Rush marble moth (Bactra lanceolana) belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Tortricidae. This moth is a specialized feeder primarily associated with plants growing in wet habitats, specifically targeting various species within the Juncus genus (rushes).
The host plants consist mainly of rushes such as Juncus effusus and Juncus conglomeratus. The moth is typically found in riparian zones, wetlands, and damp meadows where its host plants thrive. Its distribution covers a wide range across the Palearctic region, making it a well-known organism among entomologists and specialists in wetland ecology.
The life cycle involves egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. The larvae are internal feeders, living inside the stems or seed heads of the host plants.
