As an agricultural pest, it is recognized for its polyphagous feeding habits, which allow it to infest a variety of woody plants and, occasionally, herbaceous crops, making it a subject of interest for integrated pest management (IPM) programs.

This bug functions as a sap-sucking pest. By using its specialized mouthparts, it pierces plant tissues—including leaves, stems, and fruits—to extract sap. During this process, it injects digestive enzymes that break down plant cells, which often results in localized damage that ruins the marketability and physiological health of the crop.

The lifecycle of Brachymena germari follows a pattern of incomplete metamorphosis, consisting of egg, nymph, and adult stages. Adults typically overwinter in sheltered areas, such as bark crevices, leaf litter, or debris at the base of plants.
